What cures Seasonal Affective Disorder?

The patients suffering from SAD are usually recommended "Light Therapy" in which the patient suffering from SAD is made to sit in front of fluorescent lights for a specific period. He is subjected to this artificial light with a view to overcome his "Sunlight Debt". Studies indicate that this therapy goes a long way in curing depression.

What can you do?

Are the monsoon showers disrupting your good mood and making you listless. Do you feel like going in hibernation? Well, don't since we intend to give you tips that'll surely brighten up those damp days. So here goes!!

Light up: Brighten up your environment. Open up the windows and remove anything that may obstruct the natural light from coming in. Turn on the light even in the daylight. If possible, lighten the colours of your walls and furniture. At work, make your desk area more interesting with pictures and curios and keep changing them frequently.

Take up a hobby: And bring about some personal changes. If you are artistic, spill your creative juices; paint, draw or write. How about a new hairstyle? Wear bright colours.

Exercise: Join a gym. This way you'll meet new people and this will help break monotony. Or turn up the music and work out at home. Even running up and down the stairs should increase your heart rate and keep your spirits up.

Get busy: With friends that is! Invite your friends over. Or how about cuddling up in front of the TV with your faithful furry friend? The general idea is to beat the blues.

Get wet: If you can't beat them, join them, so they say. So instead of avoiding the showers, go out and play in it. Go on a rejuvenating trek; the smell of the wet mud and the freshly washed flowers are sure to wash away your blues!!!
